History

Lafayette knows New York, like no other
commercial glass company.

Since inception, Lafayette has empowered a forward strategic approach to market changes technological and architectural advances in effort to provide comprehensive solutions for our clients!

Founded in 1899 on Lafayette Street in NYC. In 1910 the business was relocated to Park Slope Brooklyn and has remained in the same location for over 90 years.

Lafayette was one of the first glazing contractors to sign with the NYC Glaziers Union in 1915 and the first importers of Demi Glass.

In the early 1900’s Lafayette installed and fabricated glass, mirrors and display cases for the Bowery retail merchants, grocers, restaurants, barbers, and clip joints. Their first market expansion was within the shipping industry, installing glass in portholes in cargo and fleet vessels. As architecture evolved, Lafayette began providing new glass installations in commercial and residential buildings.
